You know what time it is. Time for all the “new year, new me” maddness. I thought I’d get a jump start on it all because who says you can only challenge yourself on the first of every year?
I am committing to 30 days of meditation. You heard it here first, folks. And I’m going to hold you all accountable for my actions (that’s how it works, right?). But seriously, I figure if I make a semi-public announcement that I’m doing this, then I’ll be more likely to see it through. You might be thinking, “Esra, I thought you said before that you already do meditate…” Yes, this is true. However, I’m not as consistent as I’d like to be.
Here’s the master plan: I’m going to be meditating for 10-15 minutes everyday for 30 days, and I’ll be keeping a log of how I’m feeling throughout the process. Once the 30 days are up, I’ll report back to you all on what it was honestly like, if I felt different in my daily life, etc.
If you’re reading this and you’re like “Hey, that sounds pretty rad! I’ve been waiting for an excuse to try out meditation,” here are some more details for you:
My app of choice for guided meditation is Headspace. You can sign up for free and test out their beginner pack to see if you’re into it. As previously mentioned, I’ll be practicing for 10-15 minutes daily. I anticipate most days these 10-15 minutes will be before bed for me, but when and where you want to mediate is completely personal preference. I’m also not confining myself to a specific series of meditation within Headspace (basics, self-esteem, anxiety, sleep, creativity, etc). I’ll be hopping around based on what I’m feeling each day. Let me know if you decide to join!
Today, December 22nd, marks day one. January 21st brings us to day 30 — see you then.
