Homemade Granola Recipe

I first started making my own granola when I tried out Tara Stiles’ recipe from her book Make Your Own Rules Diet (great read, btw). Since then, I’ve used her recipe as a basis for any type of granola I come up with (so what you’ll see below is an adaption).

You might think “Esra, why would I make my own granola when it’s so much easier to just buy it?”

Well this is why, friends: Most store-bought granolas have a ton of added sugars and chemicals. So to me it’s worth it because when you make your own it’s completely customizable and has nothing you don’t need.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • add-in’s of choice
    • ex: in the batch pictured, I added in dried sour cherries, walnuts, almonds, coconut shavings, and cacao nibs/chocolate chips

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325
  2. Mix oats, maple syrup, and coconut oil together, making sure everything is evenly coated
  3. Mix in your nuts/fruit/toppings of choice
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  5. Spread mixture out on the parchment paper
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes
  7. Let cool down completely
  8. Store in airtight container
